Leider Anton Mussert zei eerst dat de beweging niet tegen Joden was. Toch maakte hij al snel onderscheid tussen “goede” Joden die zich Nederlands voelden en een grote groep die dat volgens hem niet was. Die laatste groep gaf hij steeds vaker de schuld van tegenstand tegen de NSB. In de jaren daarna werd de partij steeds antisemitischer. Joden werden beschuldigd van zowel kapitalisme als communisme en gezien als een bedreiging voor Nederland. Mussert sprak uiteindelijk openlijk over het “Jodenvraagstuk” en stelde plannen voor om Joden uit Europa te verwijderen. Tijdens de Duitse bezetting steunde de NSB de anti-Joodse maatregelen. Veel NSB’ers hielpen bij de vervolging. Mussert protesteerde niet en profiteerde zelfs van geroofde bezittingen, terwijl hij waarschijnlijk wist van de massamoord.
