Hoewel het land neutraal bleef tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, probeerden partijen zoals de Zweedse Nationaalsocialistische Partij en de Nationaalsocialistische Arbeiderspartij invloed te winnen. Ze organiseerden propaganda, hadden eigen milities en richtten zich op nationalisme en raciale ideeën. Toch bleven ze verdeeld door interne conflicten en persoonlijke rivaliteiten. In tegenstelling tot Duitsland kregen ze nooit brede steun onder de bevolking. Na teleurstellende verkiezingsresultaten verdwenen de meeste partijen of fuseerden ze. Uiteindelijk bleef het Zweedse fascisme een marginale kracht, zonder echte politieke macht, maar wel een opvallend hoofdstuk in de Zweedse geschiedenis.
